The 2012 FIA Science Symposium is tentatively planned to be held in Baltimore, MD, October 16-18, 2012.

October 2012 will mark the 20th anniversary of the Report of the Blue Ribbon Panel on Forest Inventory and Analysis. This report expanded the focus of the national forest inventory in the United States to include monitoring of the forest resource trends on a more frequent time interval. In recognition of this milestone, the theme of the 2012 FIA Science Symposium is "Moving from Status to Trends." The Symposium will bring together international forest scientists, managers, and stakeholders to share insights on contemporary issues, science policy, mensuration, geospatial products, inventory and monitoring methods, and other topics.

Information on the venue, accommodations, and manuscript guidelines will be provided in the upcoming Second Call for Papers.

Symposium information will be posted on the web site as it becomes available - http://www.fia.fs.fed.us/symposium/

For those who have attended the Symposium previously, you will notice some changes to the requested format of papers and due dates. We made these changes in hopes that it would encourage participants to publish their work as well as allow for the Proceedings to be published in a very timely manner.
