Aihe: This Forest listserv at UEF Finland will be closed down soon

Dear 271 Forest list subscribers,

The time has run out for this list and there are now much better and informative forestry focused listservs available and as easily accessible. This list will be closed down in a few days. Unless there is an wild uproar AND one of you would step up and volunteer as the new listowner. In such a case, please contact me immediately. Otherwise you will not need to do anything due to this.

First of all, I would like to thank every subscriber for your loyalty. This list was established in 1992 by Ari Turkia and Hannu Saarenmaa and I started as the listowner in 1994. After being quite active for the first 10 years the list has been running with low maintenance for the last 10 years or so. I want to express my gratitude to the IT staff of Metla, FUNET and later the University of Eastern Finland for hosting the list and archives at their servers and all the technical assistance I have received. Special thanks go to Gyde Lund for sharing his informative NRMI newsletter over so many years.

I would like to recommend for all of you to subscribe to the actively managed and very informative "FORESTS-L" Forest Policy Info Mailing List <forests-l at lists.iisd.ca>

FORESTS-L is a mailing list for news and announcements related to forest policy issues. Postings include forest policy news,
announcements of workshops/conferences, job listings, and information on new publications and online resources.
FORESTS-L is brought to you by IISD, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the United Nations Forum on Forests.
