<div dir="ltr"><div>UCD Forestry</div><div>University College Dublin, Ireland</div><div>Masters Scholarship</div><div><br></div><div>SIMWOOD Project – Sustainable Innovative Mobilisation of Wood </div><div>There is much unused wood potential in European forests. Most of this is 'locked' in forests that belong to an estimated 16 million private forest owners. The SIMWOOD project aims to increase the mobilisation of wood from forests in Europe in a collaborative and sustainable way. The project is part funded by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme. </div>
<div>UCD Forestry would like to recruit a Masters candidate to conduct research into understanding the socio-economic factors that influence forest owners’ decision-making processes with respect to wood mobilisation. Applications are sought from highly motivated individuals who have an excellent academic record. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Selection Criteria</div><div><br></div><div>Mandatory</div><div>•<span class="" style="white-space:pre">        </span>Very good oral and written communication skills in English. </div><div>•<span class="" style="white-space:pre">        </span>A clean driving licence is also required. </div>
<div>•<span class="" style="white-space:pre">        </span>A primary degree or equivalent in forestry, land-use management, or social science. </div><div><br></div><div>Desirable</div><div>•<span class="" style="white-space:pre">        </span>A first class primary degree or equivalent. </div>
<div>•<span class="" style="white-space:pre">        </span>The successful candidate should be capable of independent research and team work. </div><div><br></div><div>We offer</div><div>The Masters Scholarship will be €22,000 per annum for two years. The study will commence as soon as possible. After tuition fees have been deducted (€6,000 for EU students in 2014/15), the remainder of the scholarship will be paid as a tax-free stipend. </div>
