Forest Research is the Research Agency of the GB Forestry Commission.
It carries out research in a number of areas related to forests and
woodlands (see www.forestry.gov.uk/forestresearch).
Forest Research is seeking to recruit a research assistant (modeller) to
work on a European Union project, funded through Framework Programme 7,
under the acronym REPHRAME (Research Extending Plant Health Risk and
Monitoring Evaluation).
The REPHRAME project involves 11 partners in 8 countries carrying out
in-depth research on the problems posed by pine wood nematode (PWN)
within Europe. The successful applicant will work with a small team,
based at the Forestry Commission's Forest Research Unit in Aberystwyth,
Wales, to develop models to predict the likelihood of trees being killed
by the nematode pest.
