This Issue:*/Carbon Mapping and Allometric Equations (Part 1 of 3)/*and
Some Other Good Things
*BUT FIRST, WON'T YOU PLEASE HELP?*
*Work Opportunities Sought. *Dr. Stephan Fuller writes, "/I am sitting
in Canada essentially recuperating from a leg injury suffered while
working on a climate change project in Ethiopia (to which I could not
return while recuperating from surgery). After 7 months new work is
definitely a major priority. (Perils of the free-lancers lifestyle --
after giving up a full-time job in 1993 and starting to work in Asia). I
am actually a climatologist by original training but have made a living
in 27 countries doing projects mostly under CBD and GEF. Now the
pendulum has returned and UNFCCC seems to be sponsoring almost
everything (along with the bi-laterals of course). I have also moved
from actually doing project implementation into either project design
and/or M&E (mid-term and final). But at the moment a long term
assignment would be wonderful -- managing almost anything! No job is too
small. CV available upon request outlining 32 years of professional
experience."/ If you know of any possibilities, please contact Stephan
at fullers at kingston.net <mailto:fullers at kingston.net>.
*Biomass Assessment Training Sought.*Yolanda Hawker Glen is interested
in a list of short courses where she can learn how to assess forest
biomass. Her country is in the process of setting up a hydro power plant
and she is the flora researcher on the project. She writes "There are a
lots of trees and I would like to do some research about them. I think
that this would be a great research project." If you know of any
training material or short courses please contact Yolanda at
yolls73 at yahoo.com <mailto:yolls73 at yahoo.com>
*/Carbon Mapping and Allometric Equations (Part 1of 3). /*Earlier this
month**Yogendra Kumar Karna wrote, "I am doing my MSc research in
_Carbon mapping_ for tropical forests in Chitwan districts of Nepal. So
I am desperately searching for _allometric equations_ of some of the
major forest tree species of Nepal. These tree species are as following:
Asna/Saj - /Terminalia tomentosa, /Bhalayo - /Semecarpus anacardium,
/Botdhangeo - /Lagerstroemia parviflora, /Sal - /Shorea robusta,
/Chilaun/e - Schima wallichii, /and Sindure - /Mallotus philippensis.
/If someone will provide me these equations, I would be very grateful to
them. Thanking you". Here are some sites that may be of interest. If you
know of others, please contact Yongendra at yogendra.karna at yahoo.com
